DUTCH BULBFIELDS – “GREATEST FLOWER SHOW ON EARTH”

After pickups we head towards Dover and board our short ferry crossing to Calais. We continue our journey to our fabulous historic hotel on the outskirts of Utrecht, staying on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Today we set off for a visit to Het Loo Palace and Gardens. Paleis Het Loo is a 17th-century palace of the House of Orange, now a museum where you can see how its former residents lived and worked. It features exhibitions about the House of Orange and the origins of the Netherlands. You will find a collection of cars and carriages and of course the stunning palace gardens.

Today we have a included a full day visit to Keukenhof Gardens to see the impressive blooms. Originally a simple kitchen garden filled with vegetables and herbs, Keukenhof Gardens has grown to become the world’s largest flower garden. Each year it is visited by thousands of people who come to see the six million bulbs bloom. Spilling across various themed gardens and four pavilions, Keukenhof is a natural paradise filled with spectacular flower displays, inspirational gardens, blossoming fruit trees, and unique art installations. Keukenhof is widely known as 'The Greatest Flower Show on Earth'. We will also take you to visit some local bulb sellers so you can purchase local tulip bulbs at a great price if you wish.

Today we leave our hotel for the last time and retrace our steps back towards Dorset.
