After pickups we start our journey towards Leicestershire …. But on route we enjoy a guided tour of Oxford Castle and Prison. Join our costumed tour guide on a journey through 1000 years of Oxford’s history; from Viking raids and the Norman conquest to the Castle’s role in Georgian and Victorian era justice. Later we continue to the fabulous and historic Bosworth Hall where we enjoy our 3-night stay on a DBB basis.
SATURDAY 31/10/26
Today we enjoy an excursion into Derby and meet a TV celebrity Richard Felix for a walking tour around Derby and hopefully a visit to the disused Derby Jail. Richard Felix is most famous as the Historian for Living TV’s Most Haunted appearing in over 120 episodes. You will also have some free time to explore Derby at your leisure. This evening after dinner the group will enjoy a history / Ghost tour around our historic hotel, and who knows what or who we might bump into !!!
SUNDAY 01/11/26
Today we enjoy an excursion into Leicester. Leicester and Leicestershire tell some of England’s most unique and unusual stories. The area is famous for its connection with one of the bloodiest battles in English history and the grave site where, over 500 years later, King Richard III’s remains were discovered beneath a city car park.
MONDAY 02/11/26
We leave our hotel mid morning and start our journey towards home. En route we make a stop at Hinkley. Hinckley is a historic market town in Southwest Leicestershire, England, with a rich heritage in textiles and engineering, a vibrant town centre, and a strong sense of community. Hinckley offers visitors a mix of industrial history, green open spaces, and modern shopping and leisure facilities. It is a perfect destination for those interested in English heritage, local food and drink, or exploring the heart of the Midlands without the crowds of larger cities. The local Town Market is also on today. Later we continue our journey back to Dorset.
