MONDAY
Our holiday gets under way as we join our coach at one of our local pick ups and head to our first stop high on the Bdmin moor – The Jamiaca Inn, sitting bravely on Bodmin Moor, the iconic Jamaica Inn still exudes its legendary charm. This Grade IIlisted coaching inn, dating from the 1750s, warmly welcomes wanderers with its low oak beams, crackling fires and a hint of peat smoke. In the atmospheric Smuggler’s Bar, you can almost sense the ghosts of old salt smugglers trading takes over a wee dram or two. Up a creaky staircase lies the smuggling museum and the atmospheric rooms, each furnished with a romantic nod to its storied past and today’s comforts. It remains a theatrical portal to Cornwall’s smuggling past, blending rustic hospitality with a delicious hint of mystery and good wholesome food. We have included a visit to the museum and a hot buffet lunch before continuing on towards our fabulous hotel in Newquay.
