TUESDAY
After pickups we drive to Folkestone for the Eurotunnel crossing and continue to Osnabrück.
WEDNESDAY
After breakfast we continue to Aarhus. En route we stop in the German border town of Flensburg – a unique blend of German efficiency and Danish culture and a "hygge" maritime atmosphere.
THURSDAY
After all the travelling, we will have a day off from our coach today. The day is yours to spend exploring Aarhus - celebrated as the City of Smiles due to its youthful demographic, rich Viking history and compact walkable layout. Explore the Latin Quarter, go for a stroll in the Old Town or visit the Art museum.
FRIDAY
This morning we head to Kongeres Jelling. Explore the site where the Danish Kingdom was born. Investigate the ancient monuments and continue exploring inside the Experience Center. From here we will continue to Stauning Whiskey distillery for a guided tour and a cheeky tipple. We will finish the day in Ringkøbing - the oldest town in the area.
SATURDAY
Today it is time to say goodbye to Aarhus and head North to Frederikshaven. Frederikshaven has its own very special atmosphere thanks to its maritime history, idyllic setting, and the ferries. The vast number of visitors to the town (around five million a year) have nurtured a shopping mecca, including one of the country’s longest pedestrian streets. It also features World’s most northerly palm beach. After time to explore here, we will board our ferry Gothenburg for our 3-night stay.
SUNDAY
Today we offer an Optional Excursion to Lacko Castle. Or alternatively, spend the day exploring Gothenburg at your own steam. If you choose to join us, we will travel North to the shores of Lake Vänern – the largest lake in Sweden – for our visit to Läckö Castle. Läckö Castle, with its impressive facade and beautiful surroundings, is one of Sweden's most well-preserved historic buildings. We will enjoy a guided tour here before giving you time to explore the little garden and the lakeside. £35
MONDAY
After breakfast we enjoy the highlight of the holiday for some – a cruise of the Gothenburg Archipelago. The boat takes you through the Gothenburg harbor, past the Älvsborg Fortress and down towards the islands of Gothenburg archipelago. The Gothenburg Archipelago is a stunning collection of islands on Sweden's West Coast. You will have the rest of the day to explore Gothenburg.
TUESDAY
After breakfast we depart our hotel and head South driving along the coast to Helsingbor. Here we will join a ferry for a short journey across to Denmark. Once in Helsingor, we will make our way to Frederiksborg Castle for a guided tour. Frederiksborg Castle is beautifully situated on three small islets in the Castle Lake in Hillerød. After an afternoon to explore here, we will make our way to the next hotel in an exceptional location only a short walk from the beach and the Baltic Sea.
WEDNESDAY
After breakfast we make our way to the capital of Denmark – Copenhagen. We will start the day with a guided walking tour helping you to get your bearings before boarding our boat for a cruise on Copenhagen's canals. The rest of the day is your to explore Copenhagen at leisure.
THURSDAY
This morning we will make our way to Odense. To get there we have to cross the Great Belt Bridge which spans 11 miles. Once in Odense, we will treat you to a guided walking tour before giving you time to explore on your own. Odense is Denmark's third largest town and home to Hans Christian Andersen House.
FRIDAY
After a leisurely morning it is time to say farewell to Denmark. We will drive to the iconic Øresund Bridge connecting Copenhagen and Malmö. Once in Sweden, we will visit Lund. Lund is a historic university city in southern Sweden, known for its cobblestone streets, vibrant academic environment, and medieval architecture. After a few hours to explore here, we will make our way to Malmö. It is said that Malmö has more restaurants per head than anywhere else in Sweden. You will have time here to explore and treat yourself to a meal out before we make our way to Trelleborg for our overnight ferry to Travelmünde.
SATURDAY
After an early breakfast on board our boat, we will start our journey back through Germany to our overnight stop in Holland. En route we will stop in Osnabrück - a charming "City of Peace" renowned for its beautifully preserved medieval Altstadt.
SUNDAY
Today we make our way to Calais for our ferry across to Dover and back to Dorset.
